IN RE:
SB2021 by Miles (Relating to providing access to local health departments and certain health service regional offices under the Medicaid managed care program.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to require Medicaid managed care organizations to seek participation from local health departments and health service regional offices acting in the capacity of a local health department, to include these providers in their provider networks for at least three years, and to add these providers to established minimum provider access standards. According to HHSC, any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill can be absorbed within the available resources of the agency.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Local health departments and health service regional offices may experience increased Medicaid reimbursements.
