Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate
FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB2104 by Zaffirini (Relating to the creation of the Texas Veterans County Service Officer Task Force.), As Passed 2nd House
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill amends Government code to create a Veterans County Service Officer Task Force and expand the use of the Fund for Veterans Assistance to include grants for pro bono legal services to veterans, and amends Education Code relating to tuition and fees for certain military spouses and dependents.
According to analysis provided by the Texas Veterans Commission, duties and responsibilities required to implement the provisions of this bill can be accomplished utilizing current resources.
This analysis assumes the bill would primarily impact designated tuition and fees, which are classified as institutional funds, and therefore would not impact the state. The bill would also impact laboratory fees, student teaching fees, and special course fees that are accounted as educational and general income, or statutory tuition, in the General Appropriations Act. It is assumed that the provisions of the bill would not have a significant effect on this income.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
