SB2151 by Kolkhorst (Relating to the Texas Diabetes Council and the state plan for diabetes and obesity treatment and education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to add representatives from the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) to the Texas Diabetes Council.  

The bill would require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide administrative support to the council by providing research services and preparing any required reports.

The bill would also require the council to consult with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to develop and provide informational materials on diabetes to be distributed to students and their parents.
 
According to ERS, TRS, DSHS and TEA, the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
