FROM:

Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2215 by Perry (Relating to the 1st Multicounty Court at Law.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code concerning the 1st Multicounty Court at Law. The bill would require the participating counties to cover costs associated with a court reporter and require the participating counties to enter into an interlocal agreement for distribution of the financial obligations of managing the court. The bill provides that if the participating counties are unable to agree on this distribution then the state funding provided to cover local obligations would be split between each county in an amount proportional to the county's caseload served by the court. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal implication to counties is anticipated.
