LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT STATEMENT

86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 27, 2019

TO:
Honorable James White, Chair, House Committee on Corrections

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB373 by Allen (Relating to conditions of community supervision prohibiting contact with certain persons.), As Introduced

The provisions of the bill addressed by this analysis would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure as it relates to the prohibition of contact with certain persons under community supervision. Under the provisions of the bill, judges who place persons onto community supervision would not, as a condition of supervision, be able to prohibit contact with the select individuals outlined in the bill's provisions.

This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources.
