Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1389 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the placement on community supervision, including deferred adjudication community supervision, of a defendant who is the primary caretaker of a child.), As Introduced

The provisions of the bill addressed by this analysis would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure as it relates to the placement on community supervision of a defendant who is the primary caretaker of a child. Under the provisions of the bill, a court under certain circumstances would be required to consider the defendant's status as a primary caretaker of a child before imposing a sentence.

This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or the demand for state correctional resources.
