IN RE: | HB2982 by Guillen (relating to public inspection of certain early voting information; creating a criminal offense.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The provisions of the bill addressed by this analysis would amend the Election Code as it relates to early voting rosters. Under the provisions of the bill, a person responsible for maintenance of the roster would commit a Class C misdemeanor if, under certain circumstances, they fail to provide information on or a copy of the roster as outlined in the bill.
A Class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not to exceed $500 (up to 180 days of deferred disposition and no confinement). This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on the demand for state correctional resources.
