Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The chair laid out SB 406 and recognized the author, Senator Birdwell, to explain the bill.
The chair laid out SB 243 and recognized the author, Senator Creighton, to explain the bill.
Senator Bettencourt sent up a committee substitute. The chair recognized Senator Creighton to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.
The chair laid out SB 244 and recognized the author, Senator Creighton, to explain the bill.
The chair laid out SB 477 and recognized the author, Senator Creighton, to explain the bill.
The chair laid out SB 811 and recognized the author, Senator Hughes, to explain the bill.
Senator Bettencourt sent up a committee substitute. The chair recognized Senator Hughes to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.
Senator Lucio, Jr. assumed the chair.
The chair laid out SB 11 and recognized the author, Senator Taylor, to explain the bill.
Witnesses testifying and registering on SB 11, SB 243, SB 244, SB 406, SB 477 & SB 811 are shown on the attached list.
Senator Hughes assumed the chair.
Senator Lucio, Jr. assumed the chair.
At 10:50 AM Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
At 1:40 PM Senator Taylor reconvened the meeting.
Senator Lucio, Jr. assumed the chair.
Senator Hughes assumed the chair.
Senator Taylor resumed the chair.
The chair moved that the public testimony be closed on SB 11, SB 243, SB 244, SB 406, SB 477 & SB 811; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Taylor moved that SB 11, SB 243, SB 244, SB 406, SB 477 & SB 811be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 6:18 PM Senator Taylor moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
