R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas |
|
have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and |
|
workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives |
|
in the pandemic was Rodrick L. Rodgers, a dedicated and highly |
|
respected employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who |
|
passed away on November 11, 2020, at the age of 45; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Rodgers was a 10-year TDCJ veteran and |
|
served as the food services manager at the Eastham Unit in Lovelady; |
|
his love of cooking was demonstrated both on and off the job; he |
|
especially delighted in barbecuing, and he prepared meals for a |
|
range of special events, including community outings and |
|
fundraisers and his popular Super Bowl parties; everything he did |
|
was informed by his deep religious faith, and he considered his |
|
wife, his children, and his stepchildren to be his greatest |
|
blessings; in the workplace, he was widely respected by his |
|
coworkers, who appreciated his humility and kindness, as well as |
|
the deep interest he took in the well-being of everyone around him; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Rodrick Rodgers faithfully and ably performed his |
|
duties throughout his tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal |
|
Justice, and he will long be remembered with great admiration by all |
|
who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Rodrick L. Rodgers and extend deepest sympathy to his family, |
|
friends, and colleagues; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rodrick L. |
|
Rodgers. |
