SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 30

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook-Off, which is taking place September 24 and 25, 2021; and

WHEREAS, The idea of an annual cook-off was introduced in 2017 by members of the Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee; their goal was to bring more family-friendly events to the Lower Cameron County community; and

WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance, the Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook-Off features talented chefs and cooking teams from all over the state competing against one another to produce the tastiest of traditional Texas barbecue fare; and

WHEREAS, The two-day cook-off is accompanied by a competitive classic car show, a local artisan market, and an array of entertainment options for guests of all ages; proceeds from the cook-off provide scholarships for local youth; and

WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook-Off is sure to provide spirited competition and first-rate cuisine that will satisfy the most discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the sponsors of the Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook-Off and its participants and extend to all best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of all associated with this year's cook-off.
