A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requirements for the use on this state's international |
|
|
border of security cameras and for camera data storage from those |
|
|
cameras. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 411.00951 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 411.00951. REQUIREMENTS FOR BORDER SECURITY CAMERAS |
|
|
AND DATA STORAGE. In any program the department establishes to |
|
|
monitor this state's international border, the department may only: |
|
|
(1) use security cameras manufactured in the United |
|
|
States by a company whose headquarters are located in the United |
|
|
States; and |
|
|
(2) store data retrieved from the security cameras |
|
|
described by Subdivision (1) on data storage devices located in the |
|
|
United States and operated by a company whose headquarters are |
|
|
located in the United States. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 411.00951, Government Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to a contract for the purchase of security |
|
|
cameras or the storage of data from security cameras entered into on |
|
|
or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2022. |
