R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Glenn Blodgett of Guthrie has been selected for |
|
induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame as a member |
|
of the Class of 2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, The American Quarter Horse Association strives to |
|
support and protect the American Quarter Horse breed, and each |
|
year, the association recognizes individuals who have contributed |
|
to the advancement of the American Quarter Horse industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Oklahoma State University, |
|
Dr. Blodgett earned a degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M |
|
University in 1974; he subsequently worked at Spur Veterinary |
|
Hospital for two years before opening Hansford County Veterinary |
|
Hospital in Spearman; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1982, Dr. Blodgett joined Burnett Ranches as |
|
resident veterinarian and manager of the horse division, and he has |
|
since overseen the equine breeding and production facility at the |
|
famed Four Sixes Ranch; under his leadership, the ranch has been |
|
recognized for its racing and western performance American Quarter |
|
Horses; in addition, Dr. Blodgett is an adjunct graduate faculty |
|
member at Texas A&M, and he mentors veterinary students at Four |
|
Sixes Ranch; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Blodgett has benefited AQHA since 1991, when he |
|
began serving as a director; from 1995 to 2009, he was chair of the |
|
Stud Book and Registration Committee and a member of the AQHA Hall |
|
of Fame Selection Committee, and in 2011, he was elevated to |
|
director-at-large; the following year, he was elected to the |
|
executive committee, and he served as the executive president in |
|
2015; currently, he is a member of the AQHA Animal Welfare |
|
Commission; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to his work with AQHA, Dr. Blodgett has |
|
been involved with the American Association of Equine Practitioners |
|
and the Texas Racing Commission; he has earned a number of awards |
|
along the way, including induction into the Texas Horse Racing Hall |
|
of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime leader in his field, Glenn Blodgett has |
|
distinguished himself in the Lone Star State and beyond through his |
|
vision, expertise, and commitment to excellence, and he is indeed |
|
deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Glenn |
|
Blodgett on his induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of |
|
Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Blodgett as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
