R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the First Baptist Church of Kaufman |
|
are celebrating the 150th anniversary of their church's founding in |
|
2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, The church was organized on November 5, 1871, by |
|
elder J. B. Daniel and the Reverend A. D. Manion, with nine charter |
|
members; the congregation met in private residences or other sites |
|
until 1883, when a small white frame church with a steeple was |
|
erected; the original building was eventually replaced by a brick |
|
structure, which was later destroyed by a fire in 1937; another |
|
building was dedicated in 1944, and the present campus was |
|
established in 2018; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, the First Baptist Church of Kaufman |
|
has benefited from the dedicated efforts of a number of outstanding |
|
pastors, including Dr. Brent Gentzel and Dr. Pablo Juarez, who lead |
|
the congregation today; and |
|
WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and great love for |
|
their neighbors, the members of this notable house of worship have |
|
established a variety of commendable ministries and initiatives |
|
that foster friendship, offer help to those in need, and work for |
|
the common good of their city and our state; and |
|
WHEREAS, The First Baptist Church of Kaufman has long served |
|
as a source of inspiration, encouragement, and guidance to Kaufman |
|
County and all those who worship there, and its continued existence |
|
is a testament to the unwavering commitment of its members and |
|
clergy, both past and present; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 150th |
|
anniversary of the First Baptist Church of Kaufman and extend to its |
|
members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
