R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The retirement of the Honorable Marc Holder as judge
  of Brazoria County Court at Law No. 2 on December 31, 2022, provides
  a fitting opportunity to reflect on his two decades of outstanding
  service to his fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, First elected to the court in 2002, Judge Holder has
  been reelected, unopposed, every four years since; in 2004, after
  only a year on the bench, he was appointed presiding judge of the
  County Courts at Law by his fellow judges; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Brazoria County, Marc Holder
  earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the
  University of Houston in 1977 and his law degree magna cum laude
  from South Texas College of Law in 1982; a practicing attorney for
  nearly four decades, he is licensed to handle civil, family,
  criminal, and probate cases in the state courts of Texas, as well as
  the U.S. District Court, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the
  U.S. Supreme Court; he is a former president of the Brazoria County
  Bar Association; and
         WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Judge Holder has been a
  member of the Rotary Club, the board of the Boys Club, and the
  Angleton Umpires Association, and he was an adjunct professor at
  Alvin Community College; he has coached state and national
  championship teams for the Angleton Girls Softball Association, and
  he has served as a volunteer child support collector, a volunteer at
  the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Center, and an umpire for the
  University Interscholastic League; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Holder enjoys a rewarding family life with his
  wife, the Honorable Terri Tipton Holder, and their three children,
  Stephani, Randi, and Cody, and 10 grandchildren; for nearly four
  decades, Judge Holder has attended Second Baptist Church, where he
  has served as a Sunday school teacher, a deacon, and a singer with
  the Praise Team; and
         WHEREAS, Marc Holder's tenure as a jurist has been
  characterized by diligence, integrity, and a love of the law, and it
  is indeed a privilege to join with residents of Brazoria County in
  honoring him for his many years of public service; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Marc Holder on
  his retirement from Brazoria County Court at Law No. 2 and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Judge Holder as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
