SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Jose Guerrero, who is retiring after a distinguished
  career of more than 35 years with the City of Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Jose Guerrero is a civil engineering graduate of
  The University of Texas at Austin; he began his career in public
  service in 1985 in the Street and Bridge Division of Austin's
  Public Works Department; and
         WHEREAS, He moved to the Stormwater Management Division in
  1986, and he was one of the original employees of the Watershed
  Protection Department when it was created; known for his focus on
  flood mitigation, he played an important leadership role in the
  Regional Stormwater Management Program and the Flood Early
  Warning System; he was a coauthor of the Drainage Criteria
  Manual, and he designed multiple stormwater projects; and
         WHEREAS, In 2012, he was named assistant director of the
  Watershed Protection Department; in this position, he has
  overseen the Watershed Engineering and Field Operations
  Divisions, and he led numerous public-private partnerships and
  staff in supporting four flood disaster recovery efforts; he has
  also served as a mentor to countless young engineers and interns;
  his many community volunteer projects include the design and
  construction of rain gardens at area schools; and
         WHEREAS, A first-rate engineer and a dedicated public
  servant, Mr. Guerrero is respected and admired by his
  colleagues, and his leadership in the Watershed Protection
  Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Jose Guerrero on
  his exceptional service to the people of Austin and extend to him
  best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
