SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Margaret McLeod Hunter, who died |
|
February 10, 2021, at the age of 96; and |
|
WHEREAS, Margaret Hunter was born on September 17, 1924, |
|
in Sumter, South Carolina; she graduated in 1941 from Sumter High |
|
School, and she earned a degree from the University of South |
|
Carolina in 1945; and |
|
WHEREAS, She married her beloved husband of 65 years, the |
|
late Samuel Marvin Hunter Jr., in December of 1946, and the |
|
couple was blessed with four children; their 13 grandchildren and |
|
seven great-grandchildren were a source of much pride and joy for |
|
her; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her |
|
daily life, she was a longtime member of First Presbyterian |
|
Church of Sumter, where she served as a deacon and an elder; her |
|
other community activities included a 70-year membership in the |
|
Mother-Daughter Book Club; she was a founding member of Les Coeur |
|
Cognes, and she served as president of the Sumter Junior Welfare |
|
League; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of wisdom, grace, and generosity, she was |
|
devoted to her family and to her many friends, and she leaves |
|
behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were |
|
privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Margaret McLeod Hunter; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Margaret Hunter. |
