R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, At His Feet Ministries in Houston has made a |
|
|
meaningful difference in the lives of countless people in need; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 2017, At His Feet Ministries is a |
|
|
faith-based organization that provides resources and services to a |
|
|
number of communities in Houston, as well as to individuals in other |
|
|
parts of Texas, Haiti, and Mexico; its many initiatives include |
|
|
disaster relief, food distribution, mission trips, a Christian |
|
|
hip-hop ministry, and a prison ministry; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, At His Feet Ministries benefits from the able |
|
|
leadership of Richard and Joanna Vega; the organization experienced |
|
|
significant growth following Hurricane Harvey, becoming a hub in |
|
|
the Houston community and feeding more than 30,000 people in just 11 |
|
|
days; since then, the group has hosted numerous outreach events, |
|
|
such as its annual Back to School Bash to distribute backpacks to |
|
|
area students and its Bless Fests, which are held in November and |
|
|
December to provide gifts, food, and financial assistance for the |
|
|
holiday season; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During the COVID-19 pandemic, At His Feet Ministries |
|
|
coordinated with food distribution programs in Houston to feed |
|
|
thousands of residents between March and September 2020; in |
|
|
addition, the organization fed approximately 10,000 families |
|
|
during the devastating winter storm of February 2021; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their abiding faith and commitment to |
|
|
service, the members of At His Feet Ministries have made a positive |
|
|
impact in the Houston community and beyond; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend At His Feet |
|
|
Ministries for its many good works and extend to all those involved |
|
|
with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for At His Feet Ministries as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
