R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The second annual Battle on the Border BBQ Cookoff
  is taking place in Elsa on October 8 and 9, 2021; and
         WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance, the
  competition brings together accomplished pitmasters from across
  the state who put their skills to the test as they vie to produce the
  tastiest entries in several different categories; guests have the
  opportunity to sample a variety of savory dishes while enjoying a
  fun, family-oriented day that also includes live music, children's
  activities, food vendors, and a beer garden; and
         WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event serves as a fundraiser
  for the Be the Change Jose E. Garza Memorial Scholarship Fund, which
  supports students from the Rio Grande Valley in their pursuit of
  higher education; and
         WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the
  Battle on the Border BBQ Cookoff is sure to offer everyone in
  attendance the chance to enjoy good food and good times while
  benefiting a worthy cause; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 2021 Battle
  on the Border BBQ Cookoff and extend to the organizers,
  contestants, and attendees sincere best wishes for a fun and
  successful event.
