R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Arlington Police Department pays tribute to its
  fallen officers each May during National Police Week with a solemn
  ceremony at Heroes Park; and
         WHEREAS, First dedicated on May 17, 2008, Heroes Park is
  situated near the APD's West Station and the city's Fire Training
  Center, and it features a tree-lined walkway, a fountain and
  memorial pool, and the Wall of Honor, which bears the names of those
  officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1930, eight police officers have made the
  ultimate sacrifice while serving the city; these include James E.
  Johnson, Gary D. Harl, Terry Lynn Lewis, Jerry J. Crocker, Craig
  Michael Hanking, Joseph Thomas Cushman, Craig Gordon Story, and
  Jillian Michelle Smith; and
         WHEREAS, Texans owe an immense debt of gratitude to the men
  and women of law enforcement who willingly place themselves in
  harm's way to protect and serve the public, and the Arlington Police
  Department's annual tribute to its fallen heroes is a fitting
  remembrance of their sacrifice and devotion to duty; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the Arlington
  Police Department's annual fallen officers memorial ceremony and
  extend to the members of the department sincere best wishes for a
  meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Arlington Police Department as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
