R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, LGBTQIA+ communities across the state have greatly |
|
|
benefited from the dedicated efforts of Rebecca Marques, who |
|
|
currently serves as the Human Rights Campaign Texas State Director |
|
|
for Project One America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Marques joined HRC in 2018, and she has since |
|
|
worked tirelessly to advance the organization's mission of |
|
|
supporting equality and ending discrimination against LGBTQIA+ |
|
|
communities; her many contributions have included campaigning for |
|
|
political candidates and advocating in behalf of LGBTQIA+ Texans at |
|
|
the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Prior to working with HRC, Ms. Marques served as a |
|
|
political strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union of |
|
|
Texas, where she led statewide efforts in support of LGBTQIA+ |
|
|
communities and reproductive rights; in addition, she served as the |
|
|
Florida campaign organizer for Oceana's Climate and Energy |
|
|
Campaign; she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from |
|
|
the University of Central Florida; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Rebecca Marques has demonstrated a deep commitment |
|
|
to building a better future for LGBTQIA+ communities in Texas and |
|
|
beyond, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many noteworthy |
|
|
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Rebecca Marques for |
|
|
her service to LGBTQIA+ communities and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Marques as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
