R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Duval County lost an esteemed leader |
|
with the death of the Honorable Gilbert N. Saenz on October 16, |
|
2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gilbert Saenz graduated from The University of Texas |
|
School of Law in 2002, and he worked as a licensed criminal defense |
|
and personal injury lawyer in Freer for 19 years; he was elected |
|
Duval County judge in 2018, and his many responsibilities included |
|
overseeing the commissioners court, participating in the county |
|
election board, and maintaining the county's expenditures; and |
|
WHEREAS, A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Judge Saenz was |
|
actively involved in VFW Post No. 8931 in San Diego, Texas; in |
|
addition, he was a lifetime member of America's Last Patrol Ranch; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Saenz enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Savannah Smith, and he took great pride in |
|
his two daughters, Ariza Talip Saenz and Braylynn Lewis Saenz; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gilbert Saenz earned the respect and admiration of |
|
innumerable people over the course of his career in public service, |
|
and his contributions to Duval County will be remembered for years |
|
to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of Judge Gilbert N. Saenz and extend heartfelt sympathy to his many |
|
friends and loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gilbert |
|
Saenz. |
