SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Vestana Cornelius
  Wollos, who died September 21, 2021, at the age of 108; and
         WHEREAS, Vestana Wollos was born in the Queen City
  community of Dallas on December 12, 1912; she was the seventh and
  youngest child of the late Dennis and Eliza Wollos, and she
  attended Booker T. Washington High School, the only area school
  for black students; and
         WHEREAS, This treasured Texan was baptized at Mount Moriah
  Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 12, and over the next 80
  years, she faithfully served the church in numerous capacities;
  in her youth, she was a member of several auxiliaries, and she
  later taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School; she
  established Family Night at the church, and she was a full-time
  employee of the church's day-care center for 16 years; her
  passion for service had inspired her to attain her nursing
  license, and she enjoyed two decades of service as a nurse at
  Methodist Hospital from the mid-1950s until her retirement in
  1976; and
         WHEREAS, Vestana was the mother of two children, and she
  was blessed with a family of nine grandchildren, 18
  great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, who
  enriched her life immeasurably; and
         WHEREAS, A cherished matriarch and an esteemed member of
  her community, Vestana Wollos was a source of strength to her
  friends and loved ones through her kind spirit and her faithful
  Christian devotion; she was beloved by many, and she will long be
  remembered with respect and admiration by all who were privileged
  to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Vestana Cornelius Wollos;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Vestana Wollos.
