SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr., who died on |
|
September 13, 2021, at the age of 101; and |
|
WHEREAS, This treasured citizen and esteemed veteran was |
|
born on March 8, 1920, in Spurger, Texas; he served with |
|
distinction in the United States Army as a truck driver during |
|
World War II, and his numerous military accolades included the |
|
Bronze Star and commendation from the French ambassador for his |
|
participation in the liberation of France; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jeremiah was the first person to take up |
|
residence on his street in Beaumont, and as the neighborhood |
|
grew, he became a cherished patriarch of the community; he gave |
|
generously of his time and resources to ensure that vulnerable |
|
neighbors had food and clothing, and many looked to him for his |
|
counsel; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jeremiah was beloved by all the members of his |
|
family, and each of them was a source of pride for him; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, kindness, and dedication to |
|
duty, Jeremiah Wimbley will long be remembered with respect and |
|
admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Jeremiah H. Wimbley Sr.; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Jeremiah Wimbley. |
