SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the members of the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines and |
|
|
to commend them for their participation in Red Ribbon Week; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Young Marines is a national, nonprofit youth |
|
|
organization that is open to all students from age eight through |
|
|
high school graduation; local Young Marines units promote the |
|
|
mental, moral, and physical development of their members, help |
|
|
them to become good citizens, and help them to develop the |
|
|
self-discipline they need to live healthy, drug-free lifestyles; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Red Ribbon Week is a national illegal drug |
|
|
awareness campaign observed annually during the final week of |
|
|
October; the popular event helps to educate and inform citizens |
|
|
about the importance of illicit drug-use prevention at the local |
|
|
level; approximately 80 million individuals across the country |
|
|
participate in Red Ribbon Week each year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This important campaign is one of the Young |
|
|
Marines' primary annual events, and members of the Guadalupe |
|
|
Valley unit participate in numerous activities to promote the |
|
|
mission of Red Ribbon Week in their community; all who are taking |
|
|
part in this educational event are indeed deserving of special |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the members of |
|
|
the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines for their commitment to the |
|
|
fight against illicit drugs and extend to them best wishes for a |
|
|
successful and educational 2021 Red Ribbon Week; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
