SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
  friends of Michael Emile Mahfood of Tyler, who passed away on
  September 21, 2021, at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Emile and Maryrose Mahfood, Michael
  Mahfood was born in Detroit, Michigan, on June 21, 1949, and grew
  up in Longview with four siblings, Philip, Rosemary, Michele, and
  David; he married his sweetheart, Suzann Mahfood, in 1971, in a
  ceremony conducted at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
  in Tyler; they were blessed with five children, Emily, Benjamin,
  Teresa, Sara-Michael, and Matthew; with the passing years,
  Mr. Mahfood experienced the joy of welcoming into their
  treasured family 16 grandchildren, Hayden, Caraline, Elizabeth,
  Eli, Gianna, Peter, Felicity, Isabelle, Cecilia, Thomas,
  Camilla, Jacob, Luke, Ann-Michael, Bryson, and Landon; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mahfood owned First Mark Trading from the
  early 1980s until 1992; a brilliant entrepreneur, he went on to
  establish GroupM7, the first website design company in the area,
  when the Internet was still in its infancy; he used his
  commanding presence to his advantage in the business world, and
  although he had a stubborn streak, he was kind and patient with
  his loved ones, including those he adopted as honorary family
  members; he was also generous in sharing his time, talents, and
  resources with others; from 2012 to 2017, he chaired the finance
  board of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler, and he then served for
  four years on the board of the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances
  Foundation; he was elected to the board of Holy Apostles College
  and Seminary, and he sponsored the Michael and Suzann Mahfood
  Family Scholarship Fund, which supports Catholic education; and
         WHEREAS, While the death of Michael Mahfood brings great
  sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that
  will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 87th Texas Legislature,
  3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael
  Emile Mahfood and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Michael Emile Mahfood.
