Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, the National Hot Rod Association Fall Nationals event held at the Texas Motorplex is not eligible for funding under the major events reimbursement program. Making the event eligible for funding could allow the event to grow from its current status as one of the premier events in the country to the biggest event of its kind in the world, drawing even more fans to Texas and further spurring economic activity. H.B. 2132 seeks to address this issue by making this event eligible for funding under the program.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
