A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the compensatory education allotment for homeless |
|
|
students. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 48.104, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) For each student who is a homeless child or youth, as |
|
|
defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 11434a, a district is entitled to the |
|
|
annual allotment equal to the basic allotment multiplied by the |
|
|
highest weight established under Subsection (c). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
