A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to purchases made by a school district and open-enrollment |
|
|
charter school using the instructional materials and technology |
|
|
allotment. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 31.002, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (5) to read as follows: |
|
|
(5) “Bundle” means one or more instructional materials, as |
|
|
defined by this chapter, that are sold together for one price. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Chapter 31, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Section 31.0216 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 31.0216. BUNDLING OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS. (a) A |
|
|
school district or open-enrollment charter school entitled to an |
|
|
allotment under Section 31.0211 (a), Education Code shall not |
|
|
purchase instructional materials or technology from a publisher or |
|
|
vendor that bundles instructional materials. |
|
|
(b) It is an exception to the application of this section if |
|
|
a school district or open-enrollment charter school deems that the |
|
|
bundling of instructional materials or technology from a publisher |
|
|
or vendor is beneficial. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
