A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the women's health advisory committee.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 531.02221 to read as follows:
         Sec. 531.02221.  WOMEN'S HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE. (a)
  The executive commissioner shall establish a women's health
  advisory committee to provide recommendations to the commission on
  women's health programs, including programs previously
  consolidated by the commission.
         (b)  The executive commissioner shall appoint members to the
  advisory committee and ensure that a majority of the members are
  health care providers who:
               (1)  are participating in women's health programs of
  various sizes;
               (2)  are located in separate geographic areas of this
  state; and
               (3)  have experience in operating women's health
  programs.
         (c)  The executive commissioner may appoint a member not
  described by Subsection (b) to the women's health advisory
  committee who represents the women's health industry and is
  knowledgeable on the best practices for women's health programs.
         (d)  Section 2110.008, Government Code, does not apply to the
  advisory committee.
         (e)  The executive commissioner shall establish the women's
  health advisory committee not later than October 15, 2021. This
  subsection expires September 1, 2022.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
