A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to designating the second Monday of October as Indigenous |
|
|
Peoples' Day. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 662.085. INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY. (a) The second |
|
|
Monday of October is Indigenous Peoples' Day in honor of the |
|
|
indigenous peoples of this state and their histories and cultures. |
|
|
(b) Indigenous Peoples' Day shall be regularly observed by |
|
|
appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
