A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the hours for the sale and consumption of alcoholic |
|
|
beverages at certain licensed or permitted premises during special |
|
|
events. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 105, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 105.11 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 105.11. HOURS OF SALE AND CONSUMPTION: HOTEL BARS |
|
|
DURING SPECIAL EVENTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of |
|
|
this code, the commission, on the request of the chief executive |
|
|
officer of a municipality, may extend the hours during which |
|
|
alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed in a licensed or |
|
|
permitted premises located in a hotel in the municipality during a |
|
|
special event that is being held in or near the municipality. |
|
|
(b) The commission may extend the hours for the sale and |
|
|
consumption of alcoholic beverages under this section for a period |
|
|
not to exceed 72 consecutive hours. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
