A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the posting of certain information regarding programs |
|
of study offered under a school district's career and technology |
|
education program. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 29, Education Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 29.186 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 29.186. POSTING OF INFORMATION ON PROGRAMS OF STUDY. |
|
(a) Using information provided under Subsection (b), a school |
|
district shall maintain on the district's Internet website the |
|
following information for each program of study offered under the |
|
district's career and technology education program: |
|
(1) labor market information relating to jobs to which |
|
the program of study is designed to lead, including: |
|
(A) the growth rate of those jobs; |
|
(B) the median annual salary for those jobs; and |
|
(C) any courses of study, degree requirements, or |
|
other educational requirements necessary to obtain those jobs; and |
|
(2) the industry-based certifications that may be |
|
obtained through the program of study. |
|
(b) The Texas Workforce Commission, with assistance from |
|
the agency, shall biennially produce and make available to each |
|
school district the labor market information described by |
|
Subsection (a)(1) for each program of study offered under a |
|
district's career and technology education program. |
|
(c) The commissioner may adopt rules as necessary to |
|
implement this section. |
|
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|
of this Act, each school district shall comply with the |
|
requirements under Section 29.186, Education Code, as added by this |
|
Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
