A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to retirees of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas who |
|
|
resume certain employment with a school district. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 825.4092(e), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) The amounts required to be paid under Subsections (b) |
|
|
and (c) are not required to be paid by a reporting employer for a |
|
|
retiree who retired from the retirement system: |
|
|
(1) before September 1, 2005; or |
|
|
(2) on or after September 1, 2005, if the retiree is |
|
|
employed as a bus driver by a school district on as much as a |
|
|
full-time basis. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply to a |
|
|
retiree of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas regardless of |
|
|
whether the person retired from employment before, on, or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply |
|
|
beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
