A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a state of disaster declared by the governor because of |
|
|
COVID-19. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 418.014, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), the governor may not |
|
|
declare a state of disaster because of COVID-19. In this |
|
|
subsection, "COVID-19" means the coronavirus disease 2019. |
|
|
SECTION 2. As provided by Section 418.014(c), Government |
|
|
Code, the state of disaster declared by the governor in Tex. Gov. |
|
|
Proclamation No. 41-3720, 45 Tex. Reg. 2094 (2020), as renewed, is |
|
|
terminated. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
