A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to requiring training in cultural competence for certain
  employees of the Department of Family and Protective Services.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code,
  is amended by adding Section 40.0375 to read as follows:
         Sec. 40.0375.  TRAINING IN CULTURAL COMPETENCE. (a)  In this
  section, "cultural competence" means the ability to understand,
  communicate with, and effectively interact with people from
  different cultures. 
         (b)  The department shall provide training in cultural
  competence to employees who work in the family-based safety
  services area. The training must educate employees on the ways in
  which a person's cultural differences affect the person's views on
  family and raising children.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
