A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the wearing of a personal flotation device while being |
|
|
towed behind a motorboat or while engaged in water sports in or on |
|
|
the wake of a motorboat; creating a criminal offense. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 31.066, Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) A person may not operate a motorboat unless each person |
|
|
towed behind the motorboat or engaged in water sports in or on the |
|
|
motorboat's wake is wearing a wearable personal flotation device of |
|
|
the sort prescribed by the commandant of the Coast Guard. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
