A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of the board of trustees of a school |
|
|
district to enter into a contract or agreement with a public or |
|
|
private entity for the use of facilities for district events. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 11, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 11.187 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 11.187. USE OF FACILITIES OWNED BY OTHER ENTITIES FOR |
|
|
DISTRICT EVENTS. The board of trustees of a school district may |
|
|
enter into a contract or other agreement with a public or private |
|
|
entity for the use of any facility owned by the entity, including a |
|
|
church or other religious facility, that the board determines is |
|
|
the most appropriate method to meet the district's needs for a |
|
|
graduation ceremony or other event sponsored or sanctioned by the |
|
|
school district. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
