A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the prioritization for the delivery of electric utility |
|
|
services in an emergency to certain housing facilities operated by |
|
|
municipal housing authorities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 392.068 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 392.068. PRIORITY FOR DELIVERY OF ELECTRIC UTILITY |
|
|
SERVICES IN EMERGENCY. A municipal housing authority, in |
|
|
cooperation with the municipality in which the authority is located |
|
|
and with any electric utility, municipally owned utility, or |
|
|
electric cooperative that provides power to housing facilities |
|
|
operated by the authority, shall prioritize in an emergency the |
|
|
provision of electric utility services to each housing facility |
|
|
that is operated by the authority and that has residents that are |
|
|
elderly or disabled individuals. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
