A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a standard application for new customers of retail |
|
|
electric providers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 39.110 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 39.110. APPLICATION FOR NEW CUSTOMERS OF RETAIL |
|
|
ELECTRIC PROVIDERS. (a) The commission shall develop a standard |
|
|
application for use by a person applying to become a customer of a |
|
|
retail electric provider. |
|
|
(b) The commission shall publish the standard application |
|
|
on: |
|
|
(1) the commission's Power to Choose Internet website; |
|
|
and |
|
|
(2) the commission's Internet website. |
|
|
(c) A retail electric provider may not require a person to |
|
|
use an application other than the standard application to become a |
|
|
customer of the provider. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
