A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to disaster preparedness education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 418, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 418.0556 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 418.0556. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS EDUCATION. (a) The |
|
|
division shall develop disaster preparedness educational materials |
|
|
that include instructions for preparing a disaster kit containing |
|
|
supplies most needed in a disaster or emergency, such as water, |
|
|
nonperishable food, medical supplies, flashlights, and other |
|
|
essential items, to assist families and businesses in adequately |
|
|
preparing for hurricanes, floods, fires, freezing temperatures, |
|
|
drought, and other potential disasters. |
|
|
(b) The division shall post on the division's Internet |
|
|
website and distribute to local governments and businesses the |
|
|
educational materials and instructions developed under Subsection |
|
|
(a). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
