A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to training for members of the governing body of a rural |
|
hospital. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 241, Health and Safety |
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 241.012 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 241.012. TRAINING FOR GOVERNING BODY OF RURAL |
|
HOSPITAL. (a) In this section, "rural hospital" means a hospital |
|
licensed under this chapter that is: |
|
(1) located in a county with a population of less than |
|
60,000; or |
|
(2) designated by the Centers for Medicare and |
|
Medicaid Services as a critical access hospital, rural referral |
|
center, or sole community hospital and is not located in an area |
|
defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget as a |
|
metropolitan statistical area. |
|
(b) A rural hospital shall provide to a member of the |
|
hospital's governing body, on the member's request, an education |
|
and training course on the governing body's powers and duties and |
|
other appropriate topics. |
|
(c) The course provided under Subsection (b) must be: |
|
(1) developed using requirements and standards |
|
determined by the Center for Optimizing Rural Health of the Texas |
|
A&M Rural and Community Health Institute or a successor |
|
organization; |
|
(2) provided at no cost to the requesting member; and |
|
(3) available in an electronic format. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
