A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to expanding the definition of bicycle to include |
|
|
modifications necessary for adaptive riding by persons with |
|
|
disabilities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 541.201(2), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(2) "Bicycle" means a device, excluding a moped, that |
|
|
[a person may ride and that: |
|
|
[(A)] is capable of being ridden solely using |
|
|
human power[;] and has either: |
|
|
(A) [(B) has] two tandem wheels at least one of |
|
|
which is more than 14 inches in diameter; or |
|
|
(B) two or more wheels, at least one of which is |
|
|
more than 14 inches in diameter, and a belt, chain, or gears. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
