A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the inclusion of emergency shelter planning in local |
|
|
and interjurisdictional emergency management plans. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 418.044, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The division, in collaboration with political |
|
|
subdivisions, emergency management agencies, and regional planning |
|
|
commissions created under Chapter 391, Local Government Code, shall |
|
|
ensure that local and interjurisdictional emergency management |
|
|
plans include provisions for emergency shelters in the event of a |
|
|
disaster that are suitable for cold weather events, wildfires, and |
|
|
floods. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
