A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to Medicaid managed care accreditation. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 533.0031, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
(c) The Commission may not award a managed care organization |
|
a contract to provide services under the state's Medicaid Managed |
|
Care Program unless that managed care organization has been |
|
accredited or has initiated the process of becoming accredited by a |
|
nationally recognized accrediting organization that: |
|
(1) is required by no fewer than ten state Medicaid |
|
programs as a sole accreditor; |
|
(2) distinguishes managed care organizations for the |
|
integration of long-term services and supports; and |
|
(3) distinguishes managed care organizations for |
|
their ability to provide culturally and linguistically sensitive |
|
services, and work to reduce health care disparities. |
|
SECTION 2. Changes made by this Act apply only to a contract |
|
awarded by the Health and Human Services Commission on or after the |
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
