A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the procedures of the State Commission on Judicial |
|
|
Conduct. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 33.0211, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsections (c) and (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) Unless the Commission has commenced an informal hearing |
|
|
or initiated formal proceedings related to a complaint, the |
|
|
Commission must dismiss a complaint on the first Monday after 455 |
|
|
days from the date the complaint was received by the Commission. |
|
|
(c-1) The executive director may recommend, and the |
|
|
chairperson may approve an extension of up to 120 days for complaint |
|
|
disposition due to extenuating circumstances, including a need for |
|
|
further investigation. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
