A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to statewide requirements for electric energy storage. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 35, Utilities Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 35.153 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 35.153. ELECTRICITY STORAGE GOAL. The commission, in |
|
|
coordination with the independent organization certified under |
|
|
Section 39.151 for the ERCOT power region, shall adopt rules |
|
|
necessary to meet a goal of having electric energy storage capacity |
|
|
to meet twenty percent of peak summer and winter demand within ERCOT |
|
|
by December 31, 2026. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
