A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to municipal or county authority to prohibit the use of |
|
|
natural gas utility service in a building. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 250, Local Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 250.012 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 250.012. NATURAL GAS UTILITY SERVICE. Notwithstanding |
|
|
any other law, a municipality or county may not adopt or enforce an |
|
|
ordinance, order, or other regulation that prohibits the use of |
|
|
natural gas utility service in a building as a condition to receive |
|
|
a permit or other approval required to construct or improve the |
|
|
building. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
an application for a permit or other approval filed on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
