A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing certain judges to |
|
|
become candidates for another office without automatically |
|
|
resigning from the office already held. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 65(a), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, |
|
|
is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) This section applies to the following offices: District |
|
|
Clerks; County Clerks; County Judges; [Judges of the County Courts |
|
|
at Law, County Criminal Courts, County Probate Courts and County |
|
|
Domestic Relations Courts;] County Treasurers; Criminal District |
|
|
Attorneys; County Surveyors; County Commissioners; Justices of the |
|
|
Peace; Sheriffs; Assessors and Collectors of Taxes; District |
|
|
Attorneys; County Attorneys; Public Weighers; and Constables. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 2021. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing certain |
|
|
judges to become candidates for another office without |
|
|
automatically resigning from the office already held." |
