A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature |
|
|
to enact laws providing for a court to grant a commutation of |
|
|
punishment to certain individuals serving a term of imprisonment. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 33 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 33. The legislature by general law may provide for a |
|
|
court to grant a commutation of punishment to certain individuals |
|
|
serving a term of imprisonment. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held on November 2, |
|
|
2021. The ballot shall be printed to provide voting for or against |
|
|
the proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the |
|
|
legislature to enact laws providing for a court to grant a |
|
|
commutation of punishment to certain individuals serving a term of |
|
|
imprisonment." |
