R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Bridgette Smith-Lawson was elected as Fort Bend
  County attorney in November 2020; and
         WHEREAS, Bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her
  new role, Ms. Smith-Lawson previously served as the managing
  attorney for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
  Office of General Counsel; she began her career with that agency as
  a regional attorney assigned to Adult Protective Services and later
  worked with Child Protective Services; before joining DFPS, she
  practiced private law; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving her community,
  Ms. Smith-Lawson is actively involved with many civic
  organizations, and in 2019 she was honored as one of the Top 30
  Influential Women of Houston; she holds a political science degree
  from the University of Houston and graduated cum laude from the
  Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2003; and
         WHEREAS, Bridgette Smith-Lawson's dedication,
  professionalism, and commitment to public service have greatly
  benefited her fellow Texans, and she may indeed reflect with pride
  on her contributions as she takes on the challenges and
  opportunities of her new position; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bridgette Smith-Lawson on her
  election as Fort Bend County attorney and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Smith-Lawson as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
